Introducing Derby Challenge – a horse racing game for up to 20 players! Derby Challenge is a horse racing simulation game. Players select Jockey Silks, place wagers, run the race and collect the winnings.
Basic Game Play
Each player selects a horse, and a jockey silk. Dice are used to determine wagering odds on each horse, wagers are laid and then the horses are lined up in the starting gate. Each race is run by rolling dice to move the horses. Two forms of movement are used: single space movement and zone based movement. The zone based movement starts horses out fast – and they slow down the further into the race they get. This movement approach helps to keep the horses closer together, gives horses behind a chance to catch up and provides for a race with more players with a chance to win as the race unfolds.
Special Spaces
There are several special spaces in addition to the zone designations. These add exciting events into the running of the race. There are two mud spaces that requires a qualifying role of the mud die to exit. There are also accelerator spaces which give horses an extra burst of speed.

Wagering
Derby Challenge includes 250 wagering chips, in two colors. These wagering chips are used to pay out the top three finishers. Multiple races are run and a winner of the game is determined by the final wager chip count.
Game Play Time
A full game can be a single race or multiple races (three races is standard). Each race takes about 30 minutes when playing with a full field of twenty horses.

- 20x 6-Sided Dice (for determining wager odds of each horse)
- 6x 20-Sided Dice (2 blue dice, 4 red dice, for determining horse movement)
- 1x Custom Mud Die (for determining exit of the mud spaced)
- 1x Custom Accelerator Die (for determining accelerator movement)
- 250x Wagering Chips (200 color one for $1 value, 50 color two for $10 value)
